A Brief Introduction
Scirpophaga is a Schoenobiinae genus with 41 described species in the world and distributed in Palaearctic, Ethiopian, Australian and Oriental region. Wing maculation of this genus is usually simple: pure white, sometimes spotted with black near the top of cell. So, Identification sould be based on the results of dissection. S. excerptalis is one of the 8 Scirpophaga species in Taiwan and regarded as an important pest of sugar cane.
