Aethaloessa calidalis tiphalis (Walker, 1859) 火紅奇異野螟

火紅奇異野螟(Aethaloessa calidalis tiphalis)是草螟科(Crambidae)野螟亞科(Pyraustinae)的成員，本亞種分佈於臺灣、日本、印尼、新幾內亞、新加坡、菲律賓、緬甸與馬來西亞等地。本種的前翅為黑色底，有三個大型橘紅色斑；後翅亦為黑色底，翅基2/3為橘紅色。根據Catalogue of life網站上的紀錄，本屬共記錄10種，然而關於本屬其他種類的分布與分類狀態，筆者尚未檢視到相關文獻。根據翅紋比對並比較鄰近地區的鱗翅目文獻後，本屬在週遭國家僅產本種，藉此推斷是火紅奇異野螟。本種在臺灣無近似種，辨識容易。圖中個體三月採於扇平。

A Brief Introduction

Aethaloessa calidalis tiphalis represents the only species of Aethaloessa in Taiwan and is characteristic by its striking orange-reddish markings on both wings.
