Gargela renatusalis (Walker, 1859)

Gargela renatusalis是草螟科(Crambidae)草螟亞科(Crambinae)的成員，分布於台灣、中國、東喜馬拉雅、斯里蘭卡、緬甸、斯里蘭卡、印尼與新幾內亞。本種的前翅為白色底，外緣緣毛有黑有白，外緣有一條黑線，黑線內側有數條與翅脈平行的黃斑與一個黑點，自頂角向下延伸約1/4翅寬的長度，亞外緣與中央各有一條彎曲的黑褐色線，中央的黑褐色線於靠內緣處擴大；後翅為黑褐色至灰白色，緣毛為白色。本屬(Gargela)全世界約紀錄有20種，主要分布於印澳區，其中有10個新種直到2009年才被Song等人描述，而Robinson et al. (1994)認為本屬的種類應可達40種左右。該屬在台灣原本僅紀錄一種(G. xanthocasis)，在Song et al. (2009)研究裡新增了一新紀錄種(即G. renatusalis)與一新種(G. minuta)。G. renatusalis與G. xanthocasis的差異在於前者亞外緣線內側僅一個黑點，但後者有三個；G. renatusalis與G. minuta的差異在於前者中線靠內緣處擴大成黑褐色斑，但後者無且目前僅知產於蘭嶼。本種的翅紋與海南島產的G. hainana十分相似，對照文獻，筆者原先以為可由「前種的後翅為黑褐色而後者為灰白色」鑑別兩種，然而在解剖生殖器後發現此特徵不準確，要鑑定這兩種僅能藉由檢視生殖器：本種的cornutus只有一根刺，但後者有一排。本種在Song et al. (2009)的研究裡，引用了數筆來自福山植物園的標本紀錄，而圖中的個體則是產於天祥。

A Brief Introduction

Gargela renatusalis was added to Taiwan Fauna with another new species, G. minuta, until 2009. Up to date, there are three species belonginig to Gargela distributed in Taiwan. G. renatusalis could be distinguished from G. xanthocasis by only one dark spot at marginal area; G. renatusalis could be distinguished from G. minuta by the an expanding patch of medial line near inner margin.
